Jammu & Kashmir Army Officer killed in action, 3 solders Injured during Encounter

In a tragic incident in j and k An Indian Army JCO was killed in action and three other soldiers were injured during an terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir kishtwar district. Security forces engaged in a gunfight with terrorists responsible for the recent killing of 2 village Defence Guards. The operation was lunched after the discovery of the VDGs’ bodies in the keshwan forest area.

The army’s 16 Crops in a post on X said the Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar was killed in action and three more soldiers were injured in a joint counter-terror operation launched in Kishwar’s Bhart Ridge on Sunday.

The deceased soldiers was identified as Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar of 2 Para (SF).


The lastest encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists around 11 am when joint search parties of the army and police teams located the militants in Keshwan forest,near where the bodies of VDGs Nazir Ahmad and kuldeep kumar were found.

The terrorists abduction and murder of the VDGs, extensive search operations commenced in Keshwan and Kuntwara on Thursday evening.


Official reported that four Army personal sustained injuries during the initial exchange of fire. They were transported to military hospital, where three were reported to be in a critical state.


A police spokesperson confirmed that the combat operation were the terrorists responsible for the VDG killings.


Three or four terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area the official said.


The official said intermittent exchange of fire was going on till the last reports were received.
