HMD aims to revive the modular smartphone initiative with Fusion, not just as a concept but as a real product. The mid-range Android smartphone looks and feels like a regular phone but is designed to be modular and repairable. The Fusion is priced at Rs 15,999 and will hit the market on November 29 in India.


HMD has launched a new smartphone in India called the HMD Fusion. One of its standout features is the interchangeable covers, known as ‘Smart Outfits’. These covers are sold separately and attach to the back of the smartphone using specialised pins, allowing users to customise the device’s appearance and functionality. Some key specifications of the HMD Fusion include the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC , 8GB of RAM, and a dual rear camera setup featuring a 108-megapixel primary sensor, among other features. HMD Fusion price in India, availability

HMD Fusion price in India is set at Rs 17,999 in Tech block concept and offers Casual outfit, HMD Flashy Outfit and HMD Gaming Outfit worth Rs 5,999 as complimentary.


The phone will be available at a special limited period launch price of Rs 15,999(All Banks) on Amazon. The smartphone sale will start on November 29 at 12.01pm.

HMD Fusion specifications

The HMD Fusion is a smartphone that comes with customisable accessories called Smart Outfits, which enhances its features. For instance, the gaming outfit improves gameplay controls, while the flashy outfit adds a foldable LED flash ring for taking better selfies. These outfits can be easily attached to the phone using special connectors.


HMD Fusion sports a 6.56 inch HD + display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC with 8GB and 256GB storage. The phone comes with 108MP dual main camera and 50MP front camera. It comes with advanced features like Night Mode 3.0, gesture-based selfies, and enhanced flash with tracking focus.


The real differentiator is the ability to transport its functionality with attachable Smart Outfits. These outfits, resembling phone cases, connect via six specialised pins. At launch, HMD is offering Casual, Flashy and Gaming Outfits. The HMD Fusion packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging ensures long-lasting power.


It operates on the latest Android 14 software, and users can expect 2 years of updates for the operating system and 3 years of security support.
On the connectivity front HMD Fusion offers Bluetooth 5.2 GPS/AGPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, OTG, USB Type-C port and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax. It includes various sensors for features like facial recognition and fingerprint unlocking for added security.


HMD has partnered with Digital Turbine and Aptoide to bring the Aptoide game store to the Fusion, offering a vast library of mobile games. Digital Turbine’s Single tap technology for easy game discovery and installation. The Gaming Outfits, with its physical buttons and joysticks, further enhances the gaming experience.
